The only difference between new and used pallets is the colour, as used pallets darken with time and use. Wooden pallets have a long life cycle and can be used many times. In terms of quality and durability, used pallets are the same, full-value products as new pallets.

Yes. With used pallets, you can reduce your logistics costs without losing the guarantee of authenticity, licence and pallet properties. Used pallets are a cheaper alternative than new pallets and are not subject to the recycling fee. In addition, used pallets are an environmentally friendly solution.

Type 1 used pallets have a lighter colour than type 2 pallets. Some parts of type 2 pallets (stringers, blocks) may show signs of ageing, i.e. small splits and cracks, which are permitted by the Pallet Assessment Card and do not affect the load capacity of the pallets.

Yes. Used EURO/EPAL/UIC/EUR pallets can be used in high bay warehouses.

The difference is that certified/licensed pallets: 1) can be used in high bay warehouses 2) are exchangeable pallets 3) are guaranteed for specific strength and safety 4) their quality is controlled top-down. Non-certified/unlicensed pallets do not have the above features.

The difference between a UIC pallet and an EPAL pallet is only in the markings on the blocks. UIC pallets have the UIC mark on the left-hand block and the EUR mark on the right-hand block. EPAL pallets, on the other hand, have the EPAL mark on both the left and right block. UIC pallets and EPAL pallets do not differ in design or technical parameters.

The two pallets are distinguished from each other by markings on the block. UIC pallets have the UIC mark on the left block the EUR mark on the right block, and EPAL pallets have the EPAL mark on both the left and right blocks.

This means that the pallet is exchangeable with other Euro pallets currently in circulation. The exchangeable pallet is reusable and can be treated as any pallet with EPAL or UIC markings.

UIC (Union Internationale des Chemins de fer) is the International Union of Railways, which brings together companies involved in rail transport. This association, since the beginning of the UIC pallets, has been licensing their production and reconditioning, operating on the basis of EU standards and UIC Code 435. Companies that have been granted a UIC licence are subject to inspections to ensure the quality of the licensed/certified pallets. This ensures that the quality of Euro-pallets is the same all over the world.

EPAL is the European Pallet Association, which grants a licence for the manufacture and reconditioning of EPAL pallets. The Association operates on the basis of EU standards and the UIC 435 Code. Companies that have obtained an EPAL license are subject to inspections, which guarantees the same quality of Euro-pallets around the world.

The pallet bearing this mark is an Euro-pallet, which is the most popular pallet in Europe. Euro-pallets have been enabling the efficient flow of goods and processes in high bay warehouses for more than 70 years. One of the biggest advantages of the Euro-pallet is its versatility (the Euro-pallet fits all types of forklifts) and its reusability.

The number of pallets that can be loaded onto a lorry depends on the size of the lorry and how the pallets are stacked. Typically, there are approximately 495-756 pallets per lorry. The pallets can be stacked back-to-back, in which case approximately 700-756 pallets can be loaded. If the pallets are stacked on top of each other, then the lorry can accommodate approximately 495-594 pallets.

No. If you want to order pallets, signing a contract is not necessary, just place an order by email. Signing a contract is necessary only in case of a large number of orders.

Yes, the pallets can be resold or exchanged.

Loading is our responsibility and unloading is the responsibility of the client.

The standard size of EURO/EPAL/UIC/EUR pallets is 1,200x800x144mm. The standard size of industrial pallets is: 1,200x800mm and 1,200x1,000mm.

If you want to send a pallet outside the European Union, it must meet the ISPM-15 standard, i.e. undergo phytosanitary treatment. ISPM-15 standard setting criteria for drying process that ensures adequate moisture content of wood and prevents the growth of microorganisms such as fungi, mould, etc.

The terms "phytosanitary" and "fumigated" are used interchangeably and mean that the pallets have undergone a drying process that prevents microbial growth and have the required moisture level

Yes. At Polskie Opakowania we also supply pallets in custom sizes. If you wish to order a custom pallet, simply send us a request with your individual specification and description of the required pallet size.

When ordering standard pallets, the waiting time varies from a few to several hours. In the case of custom pallets, the delivery time depends on the current production capacity. At Polskie Opakowania we make every effort to fulfil our customers' orders as quickly as possible.

If the pallet markings are legible only on one side of the block, it does not disqualify the EURO/EPAL/UIC/EUR pallet. Only the complete absence of markings on the blocks indicates non-authenticity of the EURO/EPAL/UIC/EUR pallet.

List of important acronyms and abbreviations

Looking for an explanation of acronyms and abbreviations related to pallet types? With the following list, you will learn what each abbreviation means.
    • The UIC (Union Internationale des Chemins de fer) is the International Union of Railways, which brings together companies involved in rail transport. UIC licenses the production and reconditioning of UIC pallets, operating on the basis of EU standards and UIC Code 435. UIC-licensed companies are subject to inspections to ensure that UIC-licensed pallets are of uniform quality throughout the world.
Note! Pallets licensed by the UIC Association are interchangeable pallets – this means that they can be used interchangeably with pallets that are certified by the EPAL Association.

    • EPAL is the European Pallet Association, which grants a licence for the manufacture and reconditioning of EPAL pallets. The EPAL Association operates on the basis of EU standards and the UIC 435 Code. EPAL-licensed companies are subject to inspections so that EPAL pallets are of the same quality all over the world.
Note! Pallets licensed by the EPAL Association are interchangeable pallets – this means that they can be used interchangeably with pallets that are certified by the UIC Association.

    • EUR – the pallet bearing this mark is a Euro-pallet, which is the most popular pallet in Europe. Euro-pallets have been enabling the efficient flow of goods and processes in high bay warehouses for more than 70 years. Each Euro-pallet bears the EUR mark on its block. One of the biggest advantages of the Euro-pallet is its versatility (the Euro-pallet fits all types of forklifts) and its reusability.

    • EURO – this is what EPAL/UIC/EUR pallets are commonly called.

Euro-pallets and industrial pallets – made of wood and plastic

Being a Polish distributor with over 20 years of experience in the industry, we offer various types of wooden pallets and packaging. They are certified and therefore have the right load capacity and strength – both new and used.

We have pallets in standard sizes, but we also accept orders for the production of custom pallets. We operate throughout Poland and have been cooperating for many years with companies based, among others, in the Mazovia and Silesia provinces.

    We have everything you need

If you need new wooden pallets, used wooden pallets or industrial pallets, you couldn’t find a better place. In our offer, we have products that help to transport and store goods in any industry. These include standard wooden EURO and UIC pallets, with dimensions of 1,200 x 800 x 144 mm, as well as industrial pallets with dimensions of 1,200 x 800 mm and 1,200 x 1,000 mm. In addition to these, we offer plastic pallets and packaging and metal packaging (so-called Gitterbox).

As we verify the conformity of our deliveries each time according to the Pallet Assessment Cards – ECR (Efficient Consumer Response) and other important standards, we ensure that each of our products is of the highest quality. In the case of licensed pallets, i.e. EPAL and UIC, we provide our customers with the relevant certificates so that they can be sure that they comply with the standards.

    Wooden pallets

The largest part of our range is made up of wooden pallets, which are highly versatile. They can be used for both transport and storage, which significantly improves the delivery of goods from point A to point B. As some of them are reusable, they can be exchanged. Thus, when delivering goods to a warehouse, there is no need to remove them. All you need to do is swap the pallet, making sure it has the same marking.

    EPAL, EURO, UIC pallets

EUR pallets, otherwise known as Euro-pallets, are the most commonly used pallets in many industries, including food, construction, automotive or paper. Among them are UIC pallets and EPAL pallets, which differ only in their designations. Both have the same size (pallet 1,200 x 800 x 144 mm).

Their spacing is adapted to all types of forklifts, which makes them extremely versatile. They can easily be used throughout the European Union. EUR pallets meet the ISPM-15 standard. This means that they have been subjected to phytosanitary treatment that ensures adequate humidity and prevents the multiplication of microorganisms on them. Due to their high quality, they can also be shipped outside the European Union having the certainty that mould will not develop on them.

    Industrial pallets

Although the Euro-pallet is the most common type of wooden pallet, many entrepreneurs in the Mazovia or Silesia provinces rely on industrial pallets, which are their cheaper alternative.

As they are available in standard sizes (1,200 x 800 mm and 1,200 x 1,000 mm), they also stand out for their universal use. However, they are much lighter and often not treated in accordance with ISPM-15, making them not suitable for every type of transport.

    Custom pallets

If you have a business, you can order from us not only UIC pallets and industrial pallets in standard sizes, but also custom ones. However, you need to know that unlike EPAL or UIC marked pallets, these are not exchangeable. However, this does not mean that it is a disposable pallet, only that it cannot be treated as an Euro-pallet.

As these types of platforms are generally much lighter, minor damage can be visible on them after one use. Most often, these are cavities that do not cause technical defects and, most importantly, do not reduce their load capacity. If you intend to use them for transport in territories outside the European Union, you can order custom pallets after phytosanitary treatment, so that they meet the ISPM 15 standard.

    New and used pallets

The Euro-pallet is not a disposable pallet. As such, it can be reused without any problems. Many of our customers rely on the purchase of new pallets, which are available for immediate delivery for standard sizes (pallet 1,200 x 800 mm). Thanks to their high durability, they can even be used for several years. This obviously reduces future running costs and is therefore a great investment.

For the benefit of our customers, we also offer a slightly cheaper solution, namely the purchase of certified used pallets. These, of course, are tested for durability so that they meet the highest standards. Used wooden pallets also allow our customers to reduce future logistics costs and, in addition, save money already at the time of purchase.

Our company also offers used wooden pallets in type 1 or 2. These differ in price and appearance. Type 1 used pallets are lighter in colour and do not have any cracks. Type 2 pallets, on the other hand, are darker, which is due to the passage of time, and may also have minor dents. However, this in no way affects their load capacity, so they are just as valuable as new pallets.

    Plastic pallets

In addition to wooden pallets, we also sell plastic pallets. In our range you will also find Mauzer pallet containers and E2 plastic containers. In contrast to wooden platforms, these are much easier to keep clean. If necessary, they can be conveniently washed and disinfected, making it much easier to eliminate microorganisms.

Among the plastic pallets and packaging we offer, you will find products made of the best quality plastic, with high static and dynamic load capacity. Such properties ensure a longer service life, which again allows you to reduce costs and is additionally environmentally friendly.

    Metal packaging - Gitterbox

In our range, you can also find Gitterboxes. Like Euro-pallets, these are popularly used throughout Europe. They are metal barred boxes that are suitable for transport by forklifts, which also allows for efficient transport and storage. They have a high load capacity and volume and can therefore hold a considerable amount of goods.

Gitterboxes are often used, e.g. for storing heavy parts in the automotive industry. Thanks to their robust construction, they comply with all required standards.

For the food, chemical, automotive and many other industries

Wooden pallets, as well as plastic pallets, are excellent for transport and storage in many industries. We have customers in the Mazovia and Silesia provinces who operate in, among others, the food, pharmaceutical, chemical and automotive industries. Among them are large corporations as well as smaller companies, which means that we are able to fulfil your order regardless of the size of your business. The high quality of our deliveries is evidenced by the recommendations we have received.
